Solo para tener claro lo que podría haber sucedido y por qué podría haber estado confundido.

Supongamos que tiene su set PATH para que /usr/local/bin llegue antes de /usr/bin . Ejecuta git --version y obtiene la versión de /usr/bin/git .

Luego construyes un Git más nuevo e lo instalas en /usr/local/bin . Ejecuta git --version nuevo, esperando que esta vez cuando el intérprete de commands busque tu PATH encuentre primero /usr/local/bin/git y lo ejecute.

Pero probablemente no lo hará, ya que para el performance la mayoría de las shells, incluido bash , tienen un caching de command que usan para evitar tener que volver a search su PATH cada vez que escribe un command. Una vez que el command está en el caching, el shell no lo busca nuevamente la próxima vez. Simplemente usa el mismo command que encontró la última vez.

Para solucionarlo, puede ejecutar hash -r para decirle al shell que olvide su caching interna, o puede salir de su caparazón e iniciar uno nuevo (el caching está solo en la memory: no persiste entre invocaciones del shell).

Solo fue un error con la actualización de git –version, por lo que se mostró la anterior – pero ya era la versión actual.
